I’m excited to present my innovative web creation project, a unique platform designed for photographers and urban photography enthusiasts. The essence of the site is to guide users in finding the perfect moments to take photos in front of iconic buildings and landmarks across various cities. Thanks to a specialized algorithm, the website will provide real-time information about the perfect solar alignment for each highlighted location.
This phenomenon, in which the sun aligns flawlessly with the buildings, creates ideal lighting and shadow conditions for capturing striking images. The interface will be intuitive and easy to use, ensuring that anyone, regardless of their level of photography experience, can take advantage of these magical moments to create memorable photos.
The website shows for each day the perfect moment of alignment. Due to the motion of the earth, the sun, the moon and other factors such as the tilt of the earth’s axis. The hours of sunrise and sunset vary from day to day.
This project has its roots in a curiosity that emerged years ago when I was living in downtown Alcalá de Henares. Knowing that Calle Mayor was an ancient Roman road and after watching documentaries about solar alignments, I wondered if this street would have some kind of special solar alignment on a specific date. As time passed and new technological capabilities emerged, combined with my acquired experience, I decided to embark on the mission to find out.
After identifying the appropriate mathematics for the project, I developed a program that automated all the calculations I had designed. Thus, I created a tool that determines the moments of solar alignment based on the longitude and latitude coordinates of each building. Once the program was completed, I built a website to share this data with the public who might be interested in visiting the city.
This project is designed with the aim of merging and testing different technologies to solve a specific problem that, in turn, could attract tourists and the curious. It’s a unique blend of passion, science, and technology, all focused on enriching the cultural and photographic experience for those visiting Alcalá de Henares.
